Happy New Year! January often arrives with a lot of noise, resolutions, pressure to improve, and the sense that we should already be doing more. At Be Well, we’re choosing a different rhythm. This month, we invite you to begin gently. Yoga reminds us that true change doesn’t come from force, but from attention. From noticing what supports us, what drains us, and what we’re ready to nourish, on and off the mat.

Our January Focus: Brahmacharya

As we resume our study of the Yamas, we turn toward Brahmacharya, the practice of wise use of energy. Rather than restriction, Brahmacharya asks us to reflect:

  • Where is my energy going?

  • What leaves me feeling grounded rather than depleted?

  • What does “enough” feel like in my body and my life?

You’ll see this theme woven into classes, reflections, and moments of pause throughout the month.

New Wednesday Evening Class

We’re introducing a Wednesday evening Yin class at 5:30 pm starting January 7. This practice offers a calm, spacious pause in the middle of the week. Expect long-held, supportive stretches, time to soften and release, and a closing Yoga Nidra or guided meditation to encourage deep rest and nervous system settling. This class is ideal if you’re craving stillness, recovery, or a gentler way to stay connected to your practice. Yogis of all levels are welcome.

On the Mat This Month

January classes will emphasize:

  • Steady, intentional movement that gently builds strength and endurance.

  • Breath awareness with mindful pacing to support flexibility and ease.

  • Practices that support clarity, balance, and nervous system regulation.

Yoga invites presence rather than perfection. It meets us where we are physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether you’re returning after time away or maintaining a steady practice, you're welcome here just as you are.

Workshops & Specialty Classes

This month, we’re also offering a few opportunities to explore your practice beyond regular classes:

  • Create your 2026 – a reflective, creative space to clarify what you want to nurture this year. The workshop will include a short yoga practice, a guided meditation, and three breakout sessions offering time to create simple, hands-on reminders of what you’re ready to support and grow.

  • Rock Painting Workshop – a simple, grounding practice that encourages creativity and connection.

  • Specialty classes designed to deepen your practice, try something new, or explore yoga in a different way. This month's topics include warrior poses, establishing a personal practice, and sun salutations.

A Gentle Reminder

In the spirit of caring for one another, Be Well is a fragrance-free studio. We kindly ask that you avoid wearing scents to class, helping create a space where all bodies, especially those with sensitivities, can feel safe, supported, and at ease.

An Invitation

Let January be less about fixing and more about listening, less about pushing and more about aligning; less about becoming someone new and more about remembering ourselves. Thank you for sharing your practice with us.

Namaste,

Susan
