February 2026

Updated: 16 hours ago

Hey, yogis,

It feels like we're having a true, old-fashioned Michigan winter...a sweet invitation to hunker down, give ourselves permission to take it easy, and breathe a little deeper.

Huge congratulations to everyone who planked along with us this month, we made it to two minutes! That’s no small thing, and you should feel proud. Thank you for showing up, trying it, and sticking with it (in whatever version worked for you). Since planking is such a great way to build strong, steady support for the body, we’ll keep planking together before most classes. Thanks for being such great sports and planking with us!

This Month's Focus: Aparigraha

In January we focused on Brahmacharya or honoring our energy and protecting it in small, everyday ways. This month we’ll explore another Yama, Aparigraha (non-grasping or non-attachment). Aparigraha is the practice of loosening our grip on possessions, outcomes, and the “shoulds” we carry. It invites us to release what’s extra or heavy so we can live with more ease, simplicity, and a sense of enough. Aparigraha in everyday life might refer to physical clutter but it can also be over-scheduling, self-criticism, perfectionism, old stories, or the habit of putting ourselves last.

On the Mat this Month

This month, we’ll practice Aparigraha by letting go of the “perfect pose,” releasing comparison, and softening the urge to push or prove. We’ll focus on choosing the version of each shape that supports our body today, using props with wisdom, resting when we need to, and returning again and again to steady breath and present-moment awareness. February is a perfect time to add a super stretchy class to your practice. Yin and Restorative yoga are both slow, calming practices with longer, supported holds that help release tension and create more ease in the body. They’re a wonderful place to start, especially if you’re new to yoga, coming back after time away, or simply wanting more mobility over time. Join us for Yin Yoga on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 and Restorative Yoga on Sunday afternoons at 4.

Thank you for being part of Be Well. Thank you for showing up just as you are, and for helping make this studio a place that feels safe, supportive, and truly welcoming.

May you find peace and serenity in your yoga practice.

Namaste,

Susan
