Hey, yogis!  March has that “in-between” feeling...winter may still be hanging on, but we know spring is quietly showing up underneath it all. This month holds the Vernal Equinox, when day and night come back into balance and the days of sunshine begin to stretch a little longer. It’s a beautiful time to refresh, reset, and return to the practices that help us feel clear, steady, and well.

This Month’s Focus: Saucha

This month we'll begin our exploration of the Niyamas, which are the personal practices of yoga, little habits that support how we care for ourselves and live with intention. If the Yamas are the ethical principles that guide how we relate to the world around us, the Niyamas are the observances that guide how we relate to ourselves.

Our first Niyama is Saucha, often translated as cleanliness or purity, not just in the physical sense, but also as a gentle practice of creating more clarity in our spaces, our bodies, and our minds. Less clutter, less noise, less mental and emotional heaviness… and more ease, lightness, and breath.

Ways we practice Saucha in our studio: washing our hands when we arrive, cleaning our mats after practice, being mindful not to step on others’ mats, and keeping the air around us pure by avoiding strong chemical scents. These small, intentional acts of cleanliness and awareness help create a space that feels clear, balanced, and supportive for everyone.

On the Mat...

We’ll explore the concept of Saucha by noticing what supports our body and mind and by letting our practice be a kind of clearing. Sometimes that may look like movement that helps us feel awake and strong, and sometimes it may be a slower breath and a simpler focus.A huge thank-you to everyone who joined the plank challenge! We’ll keep planking before most classes because it’s a quick, effective way to build core strength and support good posture. This month’s highlights also include a Sound Immersion on Sunday, March 8, and the New Moon on Wednesday, March 18. We'll practice Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations) in most classes and hold a burning bowl ritual in the 7:30 am Sunrise Flow class.

And, in the studio...

We collected 46 mugs for Ministry with Community! Many thanks to everyone who donated, and a special thank you to Mary Becky-Clark who kindly delivered all of the mugs to Ministry with Community In keeping with the theme of Saucha, this month we'll collect personal care items like bodywash, hair care, deodorant, toothpaste for the YWCA.

Congratulations Kim, Pam, and Tammie!

Thank you for being part of Be Well. Thank you for showing up, for sharing your practice with us, and for helping make this studio the kind of community that feels safe, supportive, and real.

May you find peace and serenity in your yoga practice, Susan
