Hey, yogis,
As we move into December, our days grow shorter and the pace of our lives gets a little busier. This month, our practices will focus on grounding, releasing stress, and finding peace. Thank you for showing up for yourselves and for this wonderful community all year long. Here's what’s coming up this month at the studio. Sound Immersion (with Restorative Yoga) This deeply restful class blends a 30-minute, fully-supported restorative practice with an hour-long sound immersion designed to calm the nervous system. We have space for just one more yogi in this practice.
Winter Solstice-Inspired Practice During our regular morning class on Wednesday, December 17 (7:30 - 8:45), we’ll honor the return of the light with a meditative flow of Sun Salutations. Some traditions practice 108 Sun Salutations to mark the solstice, symbolizing wholeness and renewal. We won’t complete that many, but we will move with intention, breath, and steady rhythm to create our own sense of balance and energy from within. To join us, register for Strong Flow on December 17 at 7:30 am.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the YWCA either by purchasing a shirt or donating cash or in-kind items. We'll continue collecting gifts (cash or critical-needs items) until December 17.
Winter Recess We will take a little break over the holidays. Our last classes of the year will be on Friday, December 19. We’ll return refreshed and ready for a new year on January 1 with a Yang to Yin practice at 9:30 am. Regular classes resume Friday, January 2.
Weather Related Closures We rarely close due to weather, but your safety is always the priority. Please come to class if you feel safe to drive, and know that we will communicate promptly if a closure becomes necessary. Your well-being comes first, on and off the mat.
Coming in 2026 the two-minute plank challenge is back, along with lots of specialty classes and workshops to enhance your yoga practice. We'll resume our exploration of the Yamas and Niyamas with Brahmacharya. We are shifting our Wednesday evening schedule to include at 5:30 pm class: Yin Yoga with Yoga Nidra, a very relaxing mid-week practice for all levels of yogis.
We are thrilled to celebrate Barb Rome, Steve Rome, and Joan Morgan as our Inspiring Yogis for last month! Barb has attended 600 classes, and Steve and Joan have each attended 350. Their consistency, enthusiasm, and love for the practice inspire us all. I hope your practice continues to support you...in your body, your breath, and your spirit. 2025 has been our year of aging gracefully and gratefully, and I am so thankful for each of you who have shared your practice with us. Wishing you peace, warmth, and moments of calm throughout December and into the new year.
Namaste,
Susan
